A Residents Council is made up of and represents all Residents in a Long Term Care Home.

The goal of St. Joseph’s Manor Family Council is to assist Residents, Family Members, friends, volunteers and staff to make this home the best it can be for our loved ones.

Residents Council

A Residents Council is made up of and represents all Residents in a Long Term Care Home. Under law in Ontario, specific rights are given to Councils in facilities regulated by the province, and the Administrator is required to advise all residents of their right to form a council.

The Residents’ Council of St. Joseph’s Manor provides a vehicle through which residents maintain a degree of control over their lives, share in the management of the Home, and thereby contribute to the welfare of all involved, including staff and administration.

Resident Council meets monthly at St. Joseph’s Manor. See Activities to become involved in Council.

Family Council

The goal of St. Joseph’s Manor Family Council is to assist Residents, Family Members, friends, volunteers and staff to make this home the best it can be for our loved ones through the following activities:

  • To provide mutual support for Residents, Families and friends of SJM including those who are new to the home and to those during times of challenges and/or bereavement.
  • To liaise with residents, families, friends, staff and volunteers.
  • To advocate on behalf of the residents and their family members.
  • To assist SJM with keeping family members informed and by promoting ongoing education.

The meetings are always open to new members with a positive attitude and willingness to share in ideas to make this the best home for our loved ones.
Look for posters or in the newsletter for dates and times of the meetings.
