Under the direction of our Medical Consultant Dr. Stan Shapiro, we provide a program to help clients taper down from narcotics, opiates, methadone (30 mg. or less) and/or heroin.

Upon completion of taper, clients participate in a 5 day pre treatment program, followed by a 4 week residential program. Clients who are using Benzodiazepine medications will need to be off this medication a minimum of 2 weeks prior to being admitted. Typically the wait time to get into the program is between 3 to 4 months.

The client must provide:

  • $250.00 certified cheque, money order or bank draft made payable to The Oaks Centre to cover the cost of *Suboxone Treatment*.

This payment is non-refundable and is required prior to an admission date being given.

  • valid provincial health card.

Upon admission, a valid drug benefits card as well as $250.00 additional cash to cover the cost of other medications that may be prescribed to ease withdrawal symptoms.

  • Necessary supplies for seven weeks.
  • Transportation to and from Elliot Lake is your responsibility.

The CLIENT WANTING TREATMENT must make contact with the Booking Clerk by calling 705-461-4508 Extension 301.  The office is open from  8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. on  Thursdays. Messages can be left on voice mail at any other time and calls will be returned when the office is open.   Initial information is gathered – drug history, psychiatric diagnosis and medical issues.  If there are no concerns a tentative admission date will be provided upon receipt of payment.  There is then  follow-up with the client on a monthly basis.  The client is told the time and date for each follow-up call and it is their obligation to be available for all calls to maintain their admission date.

**Note:  Missed appointments may result in cancellation of bed.

** Please note the Oaks Centre does not cover the cost of any prescribed medications during client stay.  Financial arrangements for payment of medications are the responsibility of the client.

The program is seven weeks long – three weeks in Withdrawal Management Services, followed immediately by four weeks in residential treatment at the Camillus Centre.

If there are any concerns after the initial contact, these are brought to the Doctor and/or Manager.  Letters from the family physician and/or psychiatrist may be required.
