From Our CEO

On behalf of your healthcare team in Elliot Lake, I would like to personally welcome you to the newly redesigned St. Joseph’s General Hospital Elliot Lake website! It is our privilege to provide lifelong care to our patients, residents, clients and community. We are committed to providing first-class healthcare here at our Centre of Excellence. You are in good hands. Our focus here is to treat everyone that walks through our door like family.

Under the past Leadership and the Legacy of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Sault Ste. Marie , and the many current leaders, staff, physicians and volunteers at SJGHEL, we have continually grown and evolved to meet the changing needs of our community. We are recognized as a rural integrated health care organization providing a full spectrum of compassionate, patient centred care to our community, our region and along the HWY 17 north channel corridor which we serve, in English, French and Ojibway.

We are now launching into our new Strategic Plan for 2022-2026, and under new leadership. Guided by your health and wellness needs and those of our community for years to come, building the future of health care starts now. Our Approach is based on Unity; we will continue to coordinate care and services so they are accessible to our patients when and where they need it. We will ensure you are engaged in an inclusive process, where patient experience is at the centre of everything we do.

Our Vision is to work in collaboration with health providers to establish a first class Centre of Excellence for patient health care in our region. We hope to help grow our talented and engaged workforce, find creative and innovative ways to leverage new technologies to support quality care and create sustainable health care infrastructure across the Elliot Lake and catchment areas. I am excited to be leading this journey with everyone in our region. I will strive to lead by example through what matters most – our Values – because I also know that we can’t create this future without you, and without working together on health outcomes that matter to our patients. I look forward to working alongside our community members and patients as partners in health care to ensure the new era of a rural and northern integrated health care system meets our ever-changing needs. It isn’t just a hope for the future, but a reality we are already working for today.
