Spiritual and
Pastoral Care Services
As a Catholic hospital, pastoral services are a key part of our mission. The respect and dignity needed by the sick applies to the whole person, and that includes their spiritual and religious dimensions. We have an ecumenical and inter-faith approach, open to all faith backgrounds. Wherever you might be in your own spiritual journey, we are there for you.
We know that spiritual and religious traditions can help people face the experience of illness, whether it is the patient, his or her family, staff members who see the suffering and anxiety of others, or the broader community.
Pastoral care services helps the hospital achieve this part of its mission through various ways:
- by connecting with patients and family members to learn how we can respond to their spiritual and religious needs
- by building a team of pastoral care workers and volunteers, both regular and on-call, to meet those needs with compassion
- by supporting staff members in the challenges they may face as they confront suffering
- by directing patients, family and staff to appropriate channels should they raise concerns in confidence
- by networking with the broader community of Elliot Lake, particularly religious leaders
Our motivation is simple: to continue the healing tradition of Jesus, who identified with the sick and cared for them and their loved ones with compassion, regardless of their background. Pastoral care services are there for everyone, even if only to lend a listening ear. We are ready to accompany you in this part of your journey!
God bless you!
