Physiotherapists are health care professionals, known as movement specialists, who play a significant role in health promotion and treatment of injury and disease. They work with the health care team, patients and their families to assess, diagnose and treat symptoms of illness, injury or disability and expedite discharge planning.
The Physiotherapists at SJGHEL, work in close collaboration with their Physiotherapist Assistants, and use their in-depth knowledge of the body and their specialized hands-on clinical skills to provide assessment, treatment, education and consultation to inpatients that require ongoing intervention for specific goals in the area of range of motion, strength, mobility and gait training, balance training, endurance and functional retraining. Our Physiotherapists and Physiotherapist Assistants work on the Medical Surgical Units, Intensive Care Unit, and in our Continuing Care Unit.
