Care is provided to patients of all ages by an interdisciplinary team using a patient-centered approach. The interdisciplinary team is comprised of Physicians, Registered Nurses, Registered Practical Nurses, unit clerks, Physiotherapists, Physiotherapy Assistants, a Dietician, and a Social Worker.

Visiting Patients

Visiting hours for all Inpatient Care Units, including Medical Surgical:

11 am to 1 pm
5 pm to 7 pm

COVID-19 Visitor Restrictions

Outside of regular visiting hours, special arrangements can be made for family members wishing to participate in care by speaking to the Nursing staff or requesting to speak to the unit Manager.

Community Partners

The Medical Surgical team actively collaborates with community partners including the Northeast Local Health Integration Network (NE LHIN) Home and Community Care, Elliot Lake Family Health Team, and First Nations communities Health Care Services. We work closely with our community partners to ensure that the services we provide are meeting the needs of the community and the Organization.

Telemedicine/OTN for Inpatients

SJGHEL provides secure videoconferencing connecting inpatients with healthcare professionals using the Ontario Telemedicine Network (OTN). Inpatients in our Hospital can have virtual appointments with a doctor elsewhere in Ontario, saving time and the inconvenience of travelling.

  • Inpatients in Elliot Lake Ontario can meet with a doctor or specialist located in Sudbury, Sault Ste Marie, etc.
  • We can also facilitate Physician-to-Physician consultations over distances.

The Telemedicine and OTN networks are safe and secure, ensuring that your consultation and personal health information are kept confidential at all times.
